What Makes Visitors Leave a Webpage?

This is a list I found of some of the factors that make people leave a webpage:
Quote:
1- Very High Loading Time
2- Difficult Navigation System
3- Bogus Content
4- Not enough content
5- Too many ads
6- Difficult to get used to layout
7- No member base
8- Full of spam
I think #1 is particularly true, I read that the average user will leave after 4 seconds.
Can you think of any other factors?

Excessive profanity
Horrible CSS
Ads for pornography and such
Popups, especially looping popups
Horrible HTML skills

Those are ones to watch out for.

Most people have a very low tolerance for slow loading websites. We now live in a day and age of instant gratification. If it takes a few seconds too long for a site to load, the average user will just move on to the next site.

I like a fast loading time and a simple navigation layout. I want to be able to navigate through the site quickly.

Good list, those are the things I personally find annoying as well. I would definitely add pop-ups in there. Also, too much animation can be distracting and therefore unpleasant.

Sometimes bad designing and layout of the site pays a foul game by ruining the traffic to the site. Most of the flash sites I came across are too slow that it makes the browsers to leave the site even though the rest of the site is excellent.

When the site is too slow, that's definitely a turn-off for many visitors. People don't have a lot of patience these days. If the site is not there almost immediately - click, and they are gone.
