There are lots of differing opnions out there on this topic, and I'd like to get the opinions of our users too. When you are starting a new site, do you submit it to the search engines, or just wait for them to find it and crawl it?
I personally like to start working on high quality, relevant links as well as create and submit an XML sitemap of the site to G, Y, ans MSN. I think the links will get your index page listed, and the sitemaps help to get your interior pages crawled. So, what do you think? |

Vlada, I think you may have misunderstood the question. Perhaps you should try re-reading it.
Rob, I do what you say and submit a sitemap to Google but I honestly don't bother with the other engines. 95% of my SE traffic comes from Google plus the other sites seem to index it on their own easily enough. |

Well, submit. I think there is no harm to submit your website to search engines, especially the three major ones. Besides the process is simple and takes minutes to complete. Submitting your website will give you other benefits than just getting indexed. You can access things you should know about your site like stats, links, error etc.
