Guide to creating your own photoshop tutorials

There are a lot of photoshop experts who know everything about photoshop but they are not really good at creating tutorials. I also used to be like them before. I am not an expert at photoshop but I do have some knowledge of creating some cool effects. Having this knowledge, I am always interested in teaching others about it. However, creating tutorials is different from designing logos. You need to be extremely detailed and write the tutorials depending on your readers.

Step 1 - Starting
First of all, you need to give the readers some introduction about the tutorial. You need to tell them why you want to share the tutorial and why is it they they should learn it. Tell them the importance of learning a specific technique and also tell them how they can use it themselves. You will notice that I tell to my readers in all my tutorials why I like the tutorial. Most of the time, the reason is that it is the latest trend and that it looks really nice on sites. Sometimes I just say that this is a really easy trick and you guys should know it in case you need it in future while working on something else.

Step 2 - Final Image
The most important thing in a tutorial is the Final Image. The readers want to know what they are going to be learning before reading your lengthy tutorials. If they like the Final Image then they can either stay or leave. But do not worry too much about them leaving because at least they will be happy that you are not wasting their time reading something they do not like or are not interested in. You will notice that ALL of my tutorials include the final image first before any other step.

Step 3 - working backwords
So I just talked about the importance of putting the Final Image first to not waster the readers' time. But that does not mean that you should do the entire tutorial step yourself, get the final image, put it up and then start writing individual steps. NO! You do the tutorial step by step and when you are done, you will copy the Final Image and put it on the top. Otherwise, your final image will be different than what you get in the last step of the tutorial.

Step 4 - Detail
You really need to include a lot of details in your tutorial to attract as many viewers as possible. Sometimes when we are designing on Photoshop we just follow steps from our instinct. However when you are writing a tutorial you need to be careful which steps to elaborate up on and which steps to include. Remember, you do not want to provide TOO many details and you do not want to provide TOO little details either. You need to get a good combination of the two. Also, write tutorials according to the level of your viewers. If they are beginners then add some more details and if they are experts then focus on techniques rather than too many details.

Step 5 - Screenshots
Remember to provide appropriate amount of screenshots. They are just like details. Do not add too many and do not add to little. Make the screenshots clear and accurate! Do not talk about something else and provide a screenshot of something else.

Step 6 - Conclusion
You want to write a good conclusion always. In your conclusion, you might want to talk about some other things that can be added to this tutorial and that the viewers can do themselves. You might also want to provide viewers with different versions of the Final Image to give them an idea how they can use the tutorial in different circumstances.

-----------------------------
Alright guys, these were some guidelines to writing a good tutorial by me. You can add some more steps to it but I think these are the most important ones.
