Linux for the average user
Will Linux ever reach the point of popularity that the average computer user will be able to start using it? It's been nearly 15 years since Linux showed up but it still seems like a poor second to Windows even though it may be a better product.

Well, there are a handful of compatibility issues on Linux due to most software being developed for Windows, and some may find the wide range of software, free software at that, that is completely alien to them to be quite overwhelming.
Still, Linux has WINE, and the a lot of the software is free and open source. I guess having to set up a completely new OS is just intimidating to them. |

Linux has been pretty use for a while now. Distros like Fedora and Ubuntu made sure of that. The problem is that Microsoft has a huge grip on PCs and software as well. Its hard to make it popular.
